Okay, hi! I'm not so bano in English but... I still have a lot to learn. Hindi kasi ako mahilig magbasa ng libro and I know being a bookworm contributes a lot to written fluency if not spoken. Anyway, so this is my new blog in my quest to improve my spoken english. I hope writing skill would follow.
So what's my goal. Well, to be competitive. English is an international language, so there's no doubt one has an edge if she could easily speak the language as well as understand colloquial American english.
You do agree naman na in our country we have Filipinized English... thus called Philippine English. New meanings were given to some english words.
For example, salvage means to save but here it means to kill. Then we call athletic shoes or tennis shoes as rubber shoes. Avail is also often used instead of take advantage. "Would you like to avail the free meal?" instead of "Would you like to take advantage of the free meal?" One American co-worker I talked to when I was still working as an ESL instructor told me that the word "avail" is uncommonly used or not used at all in the US.
So that's just a few. :) Anyway, join me in this site and let's improve each other's English. If you have any comments or corrections about my posts. Feel free to post. :) Til next time.
